On the proof surface, Romania's Coat of Arms, the year of issue "2000", the inscription "ROMANIA" and the face value "5000 LEI" are engraved. The signet of Mihai Viteazul, bearing the escutcheons of the three Romanian Provinces (the Wallachian eagle, the Moldavian aurochs and the Transylvanian lions), is engraved on the frosted surface; this seal validated a document issued by the Ruler's office in Iaşi on July 27, 1600.
