1000 Kuna City of Split, Croatia

In the center is the chest of the sarcophagus (today stored in the Archaeological Museum in Split) with a relief representation of the Good Shepherd on the front of the central aedicule, and the figures of the deceased, two spouses, on the left and on the right. The sarcophagus was found in the middle of the 19th century at the cemetery complex of the Solin Manastirine, and it dates from the second decade of the 4th century. The circular inscription SPALATUM and 295. 1995. around the edge. Spalatum appears in the sources as the name of a smaller settlement on the site of Diocletians palace. Signature KH of the designer Kaimir Hraste.

Diocletian's palace sketch, made according to the reconstruction of its appearance, by the french architect Ernest Hebrard. Above the palace is the nominal value ‘1000 KUNA’, and in the upper half circular text ‘REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA’ with the national coat of arms placed between those two words.
