Crowned double L monogram within wreath. In the 17th and 18th Century, New France was faced with coin shortages. When France was shipping in more coins on the ship Le Chameau in 1725, it crashed off the coast of Cape Breton and all the coins were lost. In 1965 these coins were found again. This coins design features a replica of the original gold coins from Le Chameau.
